Debt Purchase
Alongside recovering debts on behalf of clients, Merion purchases selected debt portfolios outright. If you are a creditor carrying a book of outstanding accounts, selling that book to Merion converts an uncertain, ageing asset into immediate, certain value — and hands the entire recovery effort to us.
How debt purchase works
The process is straightforward and confidential:
- you tell us about the portfolio — the type of accounts, the number, the total face value and the typical age;
- we assess it and respond with an indicative position;
- where there is a fit, we agree terms and complete the purchase under a written sale agreement;
- ownership of the accounts transfers to Merion, and we take on the recovery from that point.
What we consider
We assess trade and business-to-business receivables, consumer accounts, and mixed portfolios across a range of ages and values. Every portfolio is different, so every assessment is individual — there is no obligation in making an enquiry.
Why creditors sell to us
Selling a portfolio removes the cost, time and uncertainty of pursuing accounts that are no longer core to your business. It provides an immediate, predictable return rather than a drawn-out and variable one, and it lets your team concentrate on current trading rather than old ledgers. And because the accounts are handled by Merion, they continue to be treated professionally and within the relevant guidelines.
