Why does Merion need to verify my identity?

About your debt

Before we discuss an account, we confirm we are speaking with the right person. This protects your privacy: it ensures account details are only ever shared with the account holder, not with anyone else.

When an account is referred to us, the original creditor securely passes on the information needed to identify you — which may include details such as your name and date of birth. When you contact us, we may ask you to confirm some of these details.

If you are ever unsure about a request for information, you are welcome to end the contact and call us back using the phone number published on this website. Verifying genuine contact is always reasonable, and we will never object to you doing so.
